Spring

Green

Here’s a tribute to spring/summer, either Sara or I took it while hiking with Tevaboy last June. The cool thing is that the colors are untouched. It was that green. I like the shot, the curves are very feminine, it took me a while to realize it, but both the earth and the sky have great curvy shapes in them. Hmmm…

So I’m done with the grey, the cold I don’t mind so much, but the grey and nekkid trees, blah! I can’t wait to get over to Hawaii. I’m so looking forward to greenup time here. Look for the cliché tree bud image here in a month or two.

The weekend was mediocre. I was with the kids all weekend, and they were great. Had a bit of a family breakfast thing here this morning. I didn’t get to shoot the bow at all, but I did bake cookies tonight. Gotta like that.

I finished reading Life of Pi. Wow. It was a great book, once at the end, I thought I should read it again. I almost turned back to page 1 after I read the last page.

Food

I went to get Matara up this morning, and noticed she had a bunch of candy scattered all over her floor, with a vague semblance of order to it. Leading up to a good scolding, I asked her, “Why do you have candy all over your floor?” To which she responded matter of factly, “It’s food I left out for the faeries.”

I was dumbstruck, the brilliance of children is overwhelming sometimes.

Thanks to René for the art/PS collaboration on the picture.

A Bright Spot

Clouds

Thank god for Friday. Afternoons. It was so good to get out of there. Last Friday, as I headed over to join some co-workers for a celebratory round, I noticed the sun, or more so, the clouds. And I haven’t taken any pictures since Teva’s party. So I pulled over, and took a few, fooling around with spot metering. Pretty cool really. No really good pictures came out of it. But I learned some, and I did score the token lens flare in the shot.

Turned out to be the beginning of a funk weekend. But I’m not sharing that. I’m hoping that today’s afternoon is turning things around, I left work early to go pick up Teva, took him to the archery range for a bit, then played a game of catch with a rolled up jacket(I didn’t have a ball in the car) while we waited for Matara at the school. Dropped the kids off with Sára, and went to work for a bit. Swam 1000 meters after work, and came home. Teva’s reading like a madman, and I’m finally working with some pictures again. Oh, and I discovered the ‘progressive’ box in the PS save for web dialog. 56K of madness looks just a tad more svelte.

Anyone have any ideas for a photography assignment? It would help..

Aye, and a shout out to Happy Birthday Matey!!!

Happy Birthday Teva!!!

YAY!!!
Oh what a day! Teva’s birthday celebration at Rollerland. It’s the perfect place for a birthday party, not quite as frantic as Chucky Cheese, but crazy enough that the children love it. He scored a bunch of cool presents, and once he had those open he was done skating.. Check out the picture, Uncle Né is sprawled out in the back, what a kick ass uncle!

On a side note: Get this, they sell pickle juice at this place, cups of it. Real, green, pickle juice! Ron bought a cup and I had a sip. Awful. Bleh! I think it actually colored part of my brain green for a bit.

Imbolc

Goddess

Just got back from the imbolc ritual. Matara was the goddess. It’s a ceremony of letting go of Winter and welcoming Spring and light, hence the candle crown. It was good, very kid friendly. I’m glad that Spring is on it’s way, I’m done with winter already.
